President

Colin M. Walsh began his pipe organ building career in 1977, at age 14, by serving a full, formal apprenticeship to the firm of R.E. Meates & Sons in Dublin, Ireland. The firm, late of Telford and Telford, began in the early nineteenth century and is responsible for hundreds of pipe organs throughout Ireland and Europe.

Mr. Walsh immigrated to Nova Scotia, Canada, as a journeyman organbuilder. There he continued in his craft, building and restoring pipe organs throughout the Maritime Provinces.

In 1985, Colin established his home in the Philadelphia area where he became actively engaged in the reconstruction and restoration of pipe instruments throughout the Northeast. Over the next decade, he made great strides to foster and enhance the traditional art or organbuidling, laboring over dozens of faithful restorations and rebuilds in the region, and attracting national acclaim for his work.

Colin left Mangam Organs of Philadelphia in 1995 to found his own firm, C. M. Walsh Pipe Organs. Through the company, Colin continues the disciplines of traditional organbuilding and its commitment to cutting edge technologies. The Walsh Organs team embodies his unique perspective, carrying it with us wherever we go.
